Pomodoro Timer
Focus in customizable intervals with automated cycles and progress tracking.
The Pomodoro Timer operationalizes the proven time management technique developed by Francesco Cirillo. By breaking your workday into 25-minute focused work sprints separated by short 5-minute restorative breaks, it trains your brain to maintain high concentration while preventing mental burnout.
How to Use the Pomodoro Timer
- Select your active phase (Focus, Short Break, or Long Break). The standard default is 25 minutes of work followed by a 5-minute break.
- Click "Start" to launch your focus sprint. Remove distractions and focus solely on your chosen task.
- When the chime sounds at the end of the sprint, take a 5-minute short break to stretch, hydrate, or rest your eyes.
- After completing 4 consecutive focus sessions, enjoy an extended 15-minute Long Break to fully recharge.
- Customize sprint durations anytime by clicking the duration display or visiting the settings panel.
Key Features & Precision
Independently Configurable Phases
Customize focus intervals (e.g. 50 min), short breaks (e.g. 10 min), and long breaks (e.g. 20 min) to suit your natural rhythm.
Independent Phase Resetting
Adjusting or resetting one phase never overwrites your stored preferences for the other intervals.
Distinct Audio Cues
Features different synthesized chime sounds for work completion vs. break completion so you know when to switch tasks without checking your screen.
Session Counter & Persistence
Tracks completed Pomodoro cycles throughout your workday with state backed by browser localStorage.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the classic Pomodoro Technique interval structure?
The traditional technique uses 25 minutes of undistracted focus followed by a 5-minute short break. After four consecutive cycles, a longer 15-to-30 minute break is taken.
Can I change the work duration to 50 minutes instead of 25?
Yes. You can edit the duration of each phase directly. Many professionals prefer 50/10 intervals for deep technical tasks.
Does the timer pause if I navigate away to the Digital Clock or Stopwatch?
No. The timer runs continuously against its target timestamp in localStorage so your focus session remains synchronized.
