Working Hours & Business Days Calculator
Calculate exact net working hours and business days between dates, excluding weekends and off-shift hours.
Work Schedule Settings
The Working Hours and Business Days Calculator measures productive working time between any two dates and times. Unlike calendar difference calculators that assume continuous 24/7 passage of time, this tool restricts calculations to defined work shifts, automatically filters out weekend days, and accounts for daily unpaid lunch breaks to deliver accurate billable and SLA metrics.
How to Use the Working Hours & Business Days Calculator
- Select your start date and time using the start datetime picker.
- Select your target completion date and time using the end datetime picker.
- Configure your daily business shift: set the workday start time (e.g. 09:00) and workday end time (e.g. 17:00).
- Specify any daily unpaid lunch or break duration in minutes (e.g. 60 minutes).
- Toggle active working days of the week (Monday through Friday enabled by default).
- Review the calculated net working hours, active business days, equivalent 8-hour shifts, and total non-working/weekend time excluded.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this calculator exclude public and bank holidays?
No. Because public and statutory holidays vary by country, state, and company policy, this tool calculates based strictly on day-of-week and shift hours without hardcoded regional holiday calendars.
What happens if the start time is on a weekend or outside work hours?
If a start time falls outside business hours (e.g. 11:00 PM on Sunday), calculations cleanly begin at the start of the next active working shift (e.g. 9:00 AM on Monday).
How is daily break deduction calculated on partial days?
When working a substantial portion of a workday (at least 75% of the shift), the full lunch break is deducted. On shorter partial days, breaks are deducted proportionally to ensure fair calculation.
